This Week At St. John’s | September13, 2015

This Week at SJB 9-13Thanks to Marcuss and Bob Mary, our COFFEE HOUR hosts today. If you wish to participate in this ministry, please use the sign-up sheet in the Narthex.

CHURCH SCHOOL begins today with a blessing for all our parents, teachers and children.  Our new tradition is to send children to Church School at the conclusion of announcements. During announcements and before the Church School prayer, please invite children to sit in a pew or engage with the activities at the Child’s Corner Table,  We ask parent(s) to submit a REGISTRATION CARD for their child and read thorough the Church School  Handbook available on our website; hardcopies are located in the Narthex.  Contact: Mtr. Heather

MUSIC is expanding to include an Artist in Residence Program.  We invite you to help us realize this goal by attending a lively evening at St. John’s on Friday, September 18 at 7 p,m,  This evening involves a paddle raise , an opportunity for you to offer you financial support to the upcoming church music season,  Contact: Music Director, Scot Crandal.

RITE III Sunday (faster-paced, interactive service) occurs next Sunday (Sept. 20 at 10am) when we honor the relationship between St. John’s and OES.  Students, chaplains, and the Head of the School will participate in the service.  Afterwards, we will gather outside for a giant potluck.  Please bring generous portions, since St. John’s is providing all the food and OES is providing the BOUNCY HOUSE.

TWO WEEKS from now, on Sunday, September 27, we will present our purple hats at the alter for a special blessing.  So far we have collected almost 150 hats but we know that some of our knitters are CLICKing until midnight for – just one more hat! if you are one of these knitters, we appreciate you so much!  We don’t have an official goal, but wouldn’t it be wonderful if St. John’s could present 200 hats in a big basket.  Most importantly, something everyone can do – PLEASE SIGHN YOUR NAME TO THE PARISH SUPPORT POSTER IN THE NARTHEX!

ADULT FORUMS commence on Sept 27 following the service (11:30 am – 12:15). Adult Forum kicks off with a discussion of “Formation in Christ” coined by us and the diocese “seeking to be a community more Christ-like”.

YOUTH CONFIRMATION at St. John’s is called Confirm not Conform.  The class is a yearlong collaboration with the Episcopal parishes in Portland.  Mtr. Heather is hosting an information meeting for youth, parents and potential mentors from the parish on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 9am in the Library.

THE RECTOR is out of the office until Wednesday, September 16.
