Prayers of the People 10.4

FEAST OF ST. FRANCIS – THIS SUNDAY! at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. with the Blessing of Animals that includes your stuffed animals! and a special guest llama at 10:00! Get a picture of you and the llama at Coffee Hour!!

MEMORIAL SERVICE – all are invited to celebrate the life of Mark Ferguson, Fred Beal’s husband, Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM. Mark followed the teachings of Buddha and the service will reflect both that and the traditional Episcopal burial service. A Reception will follow in the Narthex.

ADULT FORUM SERIES will resume next Sunday (Oct. 11) following the 10:00am service (11:30am-12:15pm) with a discussion of how a vital congregation is known beyond its own membership by its particular mission(s).

THE SUNSET CONVOCATION meets at St. John’s next Saturday, October 10 from 10:00 – 12:00 noon at St. Bartholomew’s, Beaverton. All delegates and alternates to the Diocese’s Annual Convention are required to attend.

CONFIRM not CONFORM (regional confirmation) begins with a retreat at Camp Namanu, Oct. 9-10. Youth from around the Portland area gather for friendship, worship and learning. Pray for our confirmands: Will Trunzo and Lilya Sivertsen. CnC session 2 is Monday, Oct. 19 from 6:30-8pm.

TEACHERS MEETING is Oct. 25 from 9-10am in the Library. We’ll gather for training and reflections on the beginning of the Church Year. Refreshments are welcome.

EDUCATE FOR HOPE, the diocesan project, raised over $13,000 to support the children of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Zabadeh Palestine through the Diocese of Jerusalem. The donations given by St. John’s fund St. Matthew’s Sunday School program and provide scholarships for their children to attend the local Latin-Patriarch school. Thank you for your generosity!

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY. A couple parishioners expressed interest in starting up a new Bible Study for working women. To form a small group of 6-8 people, please contact Mtr. Heather.

WORSHIP COMMITTEE: meeting has been rescheduled to BLR, Wednesday, Oct. 7 at noon.
